Welcome to the Fiddle Jam Institute!

Welcome to the free Fiddle Jam Club!

<<::>>

Before I officially send you on the the Fiddle Jam Institute for your free one dozen lessons (see link below) and other member’s only perks, I’d like to tell you more about how this site is set up so you can hit the ground running and be comfortable with the site’s features.  That way, you’re more likely get the most out of your FJi experience!

Firstly remember, that though the Fiddle Jam Institute has a pretty wide foundation of styles, approaches, and knowledge it is not intended to be everything to every violinist!  I made a very conscious choice of that early on in the Institute’s development.

**The main idea at FJi is for you to have creative fun in the modern, non-classical, styles and learn to be comfortable playing as a creator (rather than a curator of a musical museum!), from the heart out, or “from the inside-out” as I like to call it.

If you’re still with me, continue on…

>>Bookmarks.  I suggest that you go ahead and bookmark this page now, so you can come back to it for reference, as least the first few times you visit.  You can do this within your own internet browser of choice, or by using FJi’s “My Bookmarks” feature by clicking “Add Bookmark” near the top left of this, and most, posts throughout the site.  You can then conveniently find your personal “My Bookmarks” list in the bottom footer section of every page in the site.  Just scroll down to find it.

>>The Lesson Library.  Just like a real “brick and mortar” school, the FJi Library is the center of FJi knowledge.  It is a place where you can largely “free-style” your own learning path at your own pace.  The FJi Library is our ever-growing Lesson Archive.  Check it out from the A-Z Lesson list first.  This list auto-updates every time I post a new lesson, so it’s always up-to-date.  Take some time to poke around and get a feel for what FJi has to offer.

>>Lesson format.  Check out the Site Tour page to learn about our fingering chart diagrams, EZ-Zones, the One-Room-School-House (ORSH) Method, and more.

>>”Help! I still don’t know where to start!”  I know, libraries can sometimes be intimidating and lead to an overwhelming sense of “option fatigue”!  If you are looking for a more specific study path, check out some of My Path learning suggestions to get you on the right path for your interests, goals, experience, learning style, and passions: Hobbyist, Jammer, Gigger, Artist, Classical Cross-over, NewBee, and more.  There might be one that is a perfect fit for you!

>>Fiddle Jam Man to the rescue!  If you find yourself needing more guidance, feel free to ask me.  I am always happy to help!  You can contact me from nearly any page in the site!  Just scroll down to the footer to find comment forms.  By the way, you’ll also find a lot of other useful links there too! …like, Recent Posts, Posts in the same Category (as the one you will be currently viewing), our Language Translator, the powerful “Search this Site” box, the above mentioned “My (your) Bookmarks” and some other navigation links.  I am also available for one-on-one sessions via video conferencing (Skype, Google, Facebook, etc…).  You will find payment options for this in our School Store.

>>Courses.  If you would like some topic-specific study, you may want to consider, just like a physical school, taking one of my more intensive courses.  These will be available (starting in March 2015) as a separate, one-time cost from our School Store, and will include lifetime access to the course’s materials (even if they are later updated).  Courses are available to both Free Club and All Access Pass members.

Other FJi features include:

>>SiteMap. A great feature to be familiar with… Check out this link-list of all the important pages within FJi!  Here you will find links to various Lesson Sort pages (by scale, topic, key, style, etc…), as well as links to membership, administrative, and promotional information.

>>School Bulletin Board.  See what other members are talking about, and add to the conversation!  Schools really are a community of learners and work best when its members are engaged and participating in the dialog!  Don’t be shy!

>>Founder’s Blog.  This is where I post my personal notes and stuff I’m excited about.

>>Open Office Hours.  Open to all members.  Free Club and All Access Pass for now.  Send me your questions and I will answer them once a week via video.  (Starting in March 2015)

>>Truck Talks.  Kind of like a podcast, except recorded en-route during my frequent drives!

…OK, OK!  I get it!  That’s enough for now.  I do not want to overwhelm you!

Here’s your free One Dozen complete Sample Lessons.  Happy Jams!

Stay in touch.

Fitz
