Coquette

Django Reinhardt gypsy jazz standard.

E-Z Improv: Almost all D major scale!  The only exception is the bridge, which goes to G major for the first 4 bars then A major for bars 5-6, before winding its way back to D major again.

Notes on the demo recording: I interpret the melody a little differently than the chart here.  I’ve performed it this way in the bands I play with.  In my opinion, in the gypsy style, exactness of the melody (though nice in an ensemble) is not nearly as important as taking a good quality and authoritative solo with a strong swing rhythmic groove/feel!
