Check it out!  I just heard the Elvis Presley tune “Jailhouse Rock” on a retail store’s music system and realized that it is nearly identical to Charlie Daniels “The South’s Gonna Do it Again!”

Different words of course and a different market and era but…

Elvis: “Spider Murphy playing on a saxophone…”

Charile: “Elvin Mitchell sittin’ on a bail of hay…”

Both songs are based on the common 12 bar blues form.
