History of Electric Violin Documentary

Hi Fiddling Folks!

I know that I haven’t sent many emails to the fiddlejam list lately, but I hope you all survived the holidays and are heading into your best year ever!

As most of you should know by now, the Fiddle Jam Institute’s sister company is Outlaw Fiddle, and I’ve been working on my dream electric violin, the EV3 that I now have applied for a patent for, and am beginning to promote and sell (check out www.outlawfiddle.com if that intrigues you).  I came across this “History of the Bowed Electric String” Documentary yesterday, by Ben Heaney.  Ben did a scholarly job on this!  He’s also been very encouraging to me about my EV3 development, being kind enough to show me inner and outer pictures of his very rare antique Fender electric violin from 1959 for my study.  Interesting stuff, if you are an electric violinist! Check it out!

Also, I’ll be in a “Rock Your Strings” online event coming up that is being hosted by Allyson Lyne, a teacher and player up in Canada. The online event will be free to anybody using the link below. It will start Jan 17th, 2022 and feature myself and other known teaching artists. I did a session on my Fiddle Jam approach to playing creatively and threw in some other pearls of wisdom… you can play along in a “call and answer” session to get some ideas and learn about these techniques to help you develop an inner musical confidence while jamming!

January 17 – 3 days, 6 speakers. Click on the link to sign up!
